Police from the 102nd Precinct in Richmond Hill are looking for a mysterious suspect who shot a young man on a dead-end street near the Long Island Railroad during the early hours of Sunday, June 21.

The 20-year-old victim was on 90th Avenue near 130th Street just after 2:20 a.m. when a stranger pulled out a gun and shot him in the right thigh, police said. The shooter ran off in an unknown direction, and the wounded man was transported by private means to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center on the other side on the tracks — about three blocks east of the crime scene — where he was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released video surveillance of the suspect on the roadway, but the shooter’s gender has not been determined by investigators, and a police spokesperson could not provide a description of the suspect.

The stranger appears to be wearing a black skirt in the video footage, but it may have been baggy shorts. The suspect was also wearing a black and gray hooded sweatshirt and a gray backpack

.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to the shooter’s arrest and indictment.

Anyone with information regarding this assault investigation is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) @NYPDTips.
